Anthony Granstrand managed to win La Serenissima Repubblica for the second time in a row! It is his third division 4 win in two seasons. Not bad for an average 39 rider.
Anthony was never really seen as a big talent, until disco cycling picked him up three seasons ago. At first he was used as a regular team mate/water carrier. But last season Anthony made an unforeseen progression. He suddenly ended 13th in division 5 race Conquista de Bohol, leaving other (stronger) team mates far behind. Manager Juan at that point decided to give Anthony a free role within the team. He'd still be used as a team mate but he was also given the opportunity to choose a few races each season in which he would get a free role... Since then Anthony won three division 4 races in the break away! All though Anthony still isn't seen as a superstar by the cycling community, he has earned loads of respect from the disco cycling staff and his disco cycling team mates.
After his race win in San Marino Anthony said: "I would love to come back next year to try and go for the three-peat. But for now, I'm just going to enjoy this win."
Manager Juan responded to Anthony's reaction by saying: "Well, we are actually aiming to compete in division 3 during season 53, but we will see how things turn out. If we do come back next year and Anthony manages to three-peat, they will have to crown him king of San Marino."
